  • Question: I wanted to buy GT 1030 For my Hackintosh/Windows 10 but then i did a little reading online and compared it with the 1050ti. Then i realized it will be best i spend the extra to get the 1050 Ti but honestly I'm not into serious gaming..... Just want to be able to use macOS alongside Windows and be able to update it when the need be . I need help getting the right card for my usage (browsing the web,YouTube HD videos,watching HD movies, 4k videos in future when when i get a 4K TV and a little gaming in Windows playing Just Cause 2, Avatar, Need for SPeed) and that's about all i do with my PC...I don't want to spend so much on a card I Wont be using to its maximum potential....

    System : HP 6300 Pro SFF
    Processor : i5 3470 3.20 Ghz
    Memory : 12Gb Ram

    on a 1366 x 768 Sony TV which has hdmi And sometimes show 1080i or 1080p when i connect HDMI.... Is it 1080p capable or its just down scaling to 720p for the 1080p source.

    The difference is 504 and I can afford either but i don't want to spend on a card i wouldn't use to its maximum potential... that's why i need your help selecting one that fits my needs now and i will be upgrading to a 1080p or 4k TV depending on the price of 4K TVs in a year or two. I just need advice on the best card for my usage...Is it worth paying double for the 1050 TI or the GT 1030 will be enough for my needs.. Thanks in advance ...

    Answer: as you mentioned some little gaming in future so go with the GTX 1050Ti
    even when you game it would be better to enjoy the view and graphics

    If the RX 550 is better, are there any low profile single slot cards out there?

    Answer: The RX 550 is a little bit faster than the GT 1030. Low profile single slot cards also exist.

    The problem here is that the RX 550 is currently more expensive than it is really worth. It is only 14% faster but is - more expensive.

  • Question: Which should I take GT1030 2GB Vs RX550 2GB? please don't ask me to increase budget.

    Answer: The same performance, but GT 1030 is trustful. Don't need to care about anything like BIOS, Driver, etc...
    And, some lower budget than RX 550.

  • Question: I noticed that some manufacturers have made fanless versions of these budget GPUs. However, are there any difference in gaming performance between fanless and fan? If not, then I'll consider buying the fanless one for my silent gaming PC build

    Answer: Usually the fanless components are slower, due to lower clock speeds in order to keep temperatures down. You know how if you overclock something it runs hotter? The reverse is also true. You don't get something for nothing. If you want silence you usually have to give up some performance.

    The real question here is even if they are slower, does it matter? Maybe they are still fast enough to suit your purposes. For instance, maybe for you 50fps silent is better than 60fps with fan noise. On the other hand, if these low budget cards barely manage 35fps in the games you want to play, giving up even a small amount of performance is out of the question.
